Jim Murray's Classic Bourbon Tennessee & Rye Whisky

Nose - One of the gentlest of all Kentucky's bourbons. Remarkable cream toffee with sweet vanilla. Of the very simple yet enticing variety.
Taste - A gossamer light entrance on the palate followed by a nutty dryness and echoes of sweet corn.
Finish - The rye begins to harden up on the finale as a little warming spice but there is also a cocoa-like bitterness. Very late oak sees the whiskey off.
Comments - This is a charming, though ultimately very simplistic , bourbon from the Old Forester stable of the Early Times distillery. There are little hints of its association, mainly through the rye and pepper, but otherwise it is far removed. The caramel-toffee is easily the most dominant character and guarantees an exceptionally smooth bourbon throughout. Impressively refined.
